BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
Two major themes that the 5th and 6th graders will continuously be working on include responsibility and problem solving. Fifth and sixth graders will be treated as fifth and sixth graders. As the “big kids” of the school, the fifth and sixth grade students have now taken on the important role of modeling appropriate behavior for the younger students. By working on our class themes, they will be well prepared to move on to life after Hennessy.
ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS
Assignments are a very important piece of your child’s academic progress. In order for me to understand where your child struggles and succeeds, assignments must be handed in on time. Failing to do so pulls them further behind in lessons. In order to catch up, they may need to miss a break or recess. Continual offenses will result in a consequence discussed by the teacher and parent/s.
At the fifth and sixth grade level, I do not check assignment notebooks. It will be the students' responsibility to fill them out throughout the day and check them before they go home, so they will know what materials are needed for homework that night.
EXTRAS
I understand that each of us have very busy lives outside of school and work, and some of the assignments that are sent home with your child may be difficult. If an assignment would be too difficult for your child after attempts have been made, please either email me or send a note to school with your child explaining the situation. The goal is not to frustrate you or your child. I would much rather be aware so that I can offer proper support and assistance.
